The House passed legislation Tuesday that would prevent gamblers from using credit cards to bet online and could block access to gambling Web sites.
I ask why is online gambling so bad?
I can hop on a plane and gamble legally in a few hours, but I can’t put $10 on my credit card and play 25 cent poker online? On second thought I can legally gamble in 39 States! In fact under this bill I can still gamble online for Horse-Races….but not poker cause it’s Ah…. immoral?!.....
From the NY Times
St. Michaels has begun to lure V.I.P.’s who, some boosters would have it, could propel it into the gilded realm of the Hamptons and Nantucket. But that will take a while. There’s little for the young — just a few bars and no beaches or nightclubs — and these new householders are too circumspect and perhaps too old to be showcasing their excesses, baubles and abs.
One is Vice President Dick Cheney, 65, who paid $2.67 million last September for a house that resembles a wide, squat Mount Vernon. Another is his old friend Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, 73, who in 2003 paid $1.5 million for a brick Georgian that was last a bed-and-breakfast.
The cat is finally out of the bag….......and the call for action on the flip…
And fund a new College, Drug Programs and the Fair.
Sound impossible? It’s not.
The Oregon Constitution allows Governing bodies to basically tax what they want.
Shouldn’t we find a way to tax locals and the tourists to pay for our infrastructure?
Cruising around the internet I come to a story out of the Coos Bay Link that seems to point out the fact that the Sisters area is realizing that they need power for 800 new buildings.
Sounds like a problem, but really how many buildings does Sisters have already with a Population of 1,100? Maybe 800?
Hmmm….A city may double in size and they ponder whether they will have enough power.
Like no Duh…
Then I stop by Tom Freel’s site just now….
Now that a South Dakota anti-abortion bill has been signed into law, a Indian Tribe is planning it’s own clinic.
Since Indian Tribes are in effect thier own nation, State rules don’t apply, only Federal.
The word finally got out; Mike Beketic spent time in stripes.
(For extra credit, guess which movie?)
It’s time for some complaining.
What is really…..
Now that the Port of Tillamook is trying to rid itself of an ever growing herd of 200, it would seem so. Soon we will have the same situation with the herd in Warrenton, it is getting larger year after year.
Both Tillamook and Clatsop counties have around 12,000 elk each and growing.
Looks like it was actually a “Drug War” Summit.
First the good parts:
• Provide more help for teenagers between 13 and 17;
• Create a drug court for the family and juvenile courts, copying the intense monitoring of the Drug Court that is part of the criminal court, but serving people who are not in trouble with the law;
