A Scotland newspaper has claimed that they have documents from the upcoming G8 Summit in Russia.
The big topic at the “show” will be nuclear power.
From the Sunday Herald:
World leaders are planning a massive expansion of nuclear power in their own countries and across the developing world, according to documents drawn up for the G8 summit and leaked to the Sunday Herald. An action plan for “global energy security” to be agreed in St Petersburg next weekend envisages a network of nuclear fuel plants in G8 countries combined with the widespread sale of reactors to developing countries – as long as they promise not to use them for making nuclear bombs.
Ah yes, must include the “pinky swear”.
I’m guessing by “widespread” they mean any country that can fork up some cash for nukes…..
Two different developments have surfaced in the last few days that gives us a little insight on what is in store energy wise.
First our upstanding Federal Government came out with it’s yearly energy review, here is the general concept:
Anything jump out at ya?
It would appear as if fossil fuels will provide 90% of our energy through 2030.
But where will all this come from?

Energize America – Achieving U.S. Energy Security by 2020
Executive Summary
Objectives
To provide the U.S. with Energy Security by 2020 and Energy Independence by 2040 by: 1) reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 75%, 2) reducing oil imports by 50%, 3) generating 25% of electricity from renewable sources, and 4) creating or preserving over three million new jobs by 2020.
Energize America provides an ambitious but achievable 20-point plan to wean America from its fossil fuel addiction, to dramatically and responsibly reduce GHG emissions, to rebuild America’s manufacturing base, and to insulate the American economy from the effects of political turmoil, natural catastrophes and shrinking oil supplies worldwide.
Summary below the flip…..
Find out what Corporations and our leaders are doing to secure energy for the future.
The last few days there was a G8 summit in St. Petersburg, where the top priority was energy. No real surprises. The plan calls for 17 trillion in investment for more fossil fuel and nuclear use. Much of which will be spent on natural gas extraction and developing an LNG market. Which begs the question:
Does Clatsop County even need to get involved in this nonsense?
The topic of our future energy supply is not discussed often, but this is very misleading when it comes to the public opinion polls. According to a new Gallop poll, this seems to be the only issue that both sides of the political aisle continue to worry about.
More on the flip…..
