Giants Win!...Balloonist Still Missing...2 Killed on Roadways

• As most of you probably know, the Giants pulled off a win over the Pats today. Family members say Jeff Hazen was last seen parking his car on the Megler Bridge…..

• A Beaver Area Girl was killed on Saturday night when she lost control of her car near Hebo. 17-yr old Elizabeth Bryson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

• A Ocean Park Man was killed after being hit while walking his dog in Long Beach. Donald G. Sill, 85, died shortly before 7 p.m. at Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

• A Japanese balloonist flying over the Pacific is still missing after 3 days. Michio Kanda was traveling solo in a balloon between Japan and Oregon.

• The Astoria High School Girls Basketball team traveled to Battleground on Friday for a make up game. The couldn’t pull out a win and lost a defensive struggle 34-32. The Astoria JV team did pull out a victory 41-39.

• The Columbia River Smelt run has turned from bad to non-existent over the last few weeks.

• The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission ended deadlocked 4-4 on Saturday on whether to give sports fishermen a larger share or continue the status quo. The current policy is 43% Commercial and 57% Sport. ODFW will vote this week and Staff recommended to keep it at the current 57-43% on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.

• Another Razor Clam Dig is tentatively scheduled for Long Beach this weekend. The opening would be Feb 8th and 9th from noon to midnight.
