Astoria Girls and Knappa Boys Also Play Tonight
The Yamhill Carlton Tigers hung with the the Astoria Fishermen at the start, but after a 12-2 run in the second quarter the Fish were on their way to a 66-44 victory. Jordan Poyer scored 17 points and grabbed 9 Rebounds while Hans Lund added 16. Walter Skuzeski scored 22 on 10-21 shooting for Y-C.
Astoria out-rebounded Y-C 34-25 and had 10 turnovers to Y-C’s 15. Astoria also had an advantage at the foul line, as they were fouled quite often on the way to the basket. Yamhill was stuck trying to play catch-up and threw up shots from the outside and were 17-49 from the field.
The win move the Fish to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in Cowapa. The loss is Yamhill’s 11th in a row and they go to 1-12. The Fish play @ Banks on Thursday.
The Astoria Girls Basketball team keeps on rolling with a 51-40 victory over the Yamhill Carlton Tigers.
The win takes the Lady Fish to 12-2 on the season and 3-0 in Cowapa. The loss bring Yamhill Carlton to 5-11 on the year and 0-2 in Cowapa league play
The Lady Fish play at home against Banks on Friday and Y-C visits Tillamook on Friday also.
The Knappa Boys Basketball team hosted De La Salle tonight and lost 54-58. Knappa is ranked 5th in 2A and DLS is ranked 7th. The loss takes Knappa to 11-5 on the season and puts DLS at 11-4. Knappa plays Faith Bible on Friday and DLS plays Corbett.
DLS also beat the Knappa girls by 7….44-51.
