Vanity of Politics Impales on Kenyans

by chesimet

All signs of democracy looked prime as Kenyans lined up December 27. The poor and the poor had thought to find an exit out of the grinding poverty holes.

THIS was to render all poverty jaws invalid.

Loud and wide were the voices of those who claim to have custody of democratic values and keys to unlock the poor out of poverty abbyss.

They ALL claimed to have messianic deliverance if voted into office.

The poor masses have been patient for 45 years (since the Queen from England left with her colonial blood suckers).

Freedom was ushered in. The poor were promised not to be ruled under any form of tyranny. Freedom was to bring well being in all fronts of life.

Economic freedom was paramount to our freedom fighters. The stomachs were to be satisfied. Shelters were to follow. Economic power was to find muscles in the masses.

These many years later the promises remain elusive.

Come 2007 elections, all the echoes of 45 years ago came thundering. The poor and all Kenyans stood seeing the Promises unleashed from the prison of the Elites. They all stood aghast this unfolding god-given treasures about to be delivered through the democratic mechanism-elections through voting.

What followed remains very disheartening to me and most Kenyans.

A self-style government installed itself in power. Bloodthirsty, mad, angry poor and frustrated went on a spree that has dispatched 500 plus souls to the abbyss.

All this souls were sacrificed in the altar of politics.

Both sides are still grandstanding and posturing while the masses are mourning and burying the innocent.

What is politics. Politics is fate.

Give me my poverty. Take politics which has wrecked havoc in my country.

Democracy versus poverty. I will live poor but at least I will live. Democracy and her promises have rendered my country a haven of hate and polarization.

Politics and it’s vanity exposed.
