News: Nelscott Reef Tow, Clark County Tornado and ODFW

Local news for Thursday…

• KATU has a helicopter video of the the damage a tornado caused in Clark County. NOAA has rated the tornado an E-1.

• The Nelscott Reef Tow Classic is happening tomorrow in Licoln City. Surfers from all over the world will be competing for $20,000…in 40mph winds.

• The ODFW met today with it;s Washignton counterpart to discuss salmon predators. The most urgent issue to deal with is some of the birds ont he Columbia who kill over 16 million smolts a year. The 2 sides agreed to kill up to 85 California Sea Lions who are the worst offenders. The Oregonian has more….

• Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers is asking people to file complaints of price gouging during the storm. Go here to file…..

• There will be delays starting again on Hwy 30…from ODOT:

Expect intermittent lane closures with flagging and pilot cars on U.S. 30 for mudslide cleanup and culvert repair work. Crews are working on U.S. 30 between Clatskanie and the Columbia County/Clatsop County line (mile post 63 to 70). The work involves cleanup and culvert repair following mudslides in early December. Motorists should expect delays along this corridor, with flaggers and pilot cars controlling both directions of traffic at intermittent times.
