According to a letter from Governor Ted Kulongoski, every D.A. in Oregon had their State pay increased at least 6% in 2007-2008.
A few weeks ago Clatsop County Chairman Richard Lee sent a Letter to Kulongoski to ask why Oregon District Attorneys only received a 3% raise in 2007-2008, when many other Department Heads around the State received a 10% increase.
Kulongoski responded that Richard Lee was mistaken in assuming that Oregon D.A.’s only received a 3% increase. D.A.’s received a 3% cost of living increase and a 3% increase to make up for the “pay freeze” in 2003.
Oregon District Attorneys are also set to receive a 1.5% pay increase in 2008-2009 and another 3% cost of living adjustment in Fall of 2008. Kulongoski also noted that he recommended a 3% pay increase in 2008, but the Legislature knocked it down to the 1.5%.
If Ted Kulongoski is correct, all District Attorneys in medium sized Oregon counties will receive a $84,240 salary from the State for 2007-2008. According to the 2007-2008 Clatsop County Budget, the Chief Deputy D.A. will take home $84,200 during the 2007-2008 budget cycle.
