Obviously I agree because I voted for both of their applications.

Best as in…best in Oregon or the world? Either way it’s a matter of opinion, but I’m sure we can agree that we all have room to improve.

I will agree that Bergen has come a long way. After all his best attribute in the campaign was that he knew the name of every road in the county. That would impress me if he were trying to get a job as a UPS driver, but not as a Sheriff. His keeping himself out of the press may be his best chance for re-election.

Josh doesn’t spend enough time in the county doing his job. Instead he shamelessly self promotes and campaigns while on the clock, which it looks like Luke has fallen victim fallen for, hook, line and sinker.

Poor Tryan, just when Scott crawls back under his rock, another one crawls out.

Since Johnny Englund ain’t no dummy, it had to be a deal made in heaven as far as his interests are concerned, yeah? I mean, with the commercial fishing industry on it’s ass the way it is, (thanks to the state and fed governments), his business couldn’t have increased enough to warrant an expansion of retail floor space that is measured in acres and not feet.

And Houston’s the former home of ex-Astoria City Councilor, and former Portway owner, Bob Heilman.

By the way, around here all new homes, these days, are homes for the rich.

Got any ideas on building or providing good, affordable homes for those members of our work force and those that want to make a life here but can’t afford to?

Jon Englund and his group of “Brahman’s” only did what they were allowed to do within a “Change to suit” Comprehensive Plan caters to these kind of developers and the solution sits right up there, twice a month, on that dais in Astoria City Council Chambers.

Thank God somebody got a reasonably workable plan that had some compromise to the benefit of “The Citizens” but, it is still up in the air as to what will be built because once again a variance was approved without a firm plan of any sort just like Astoria Business Park on 39th street and again, our leaders perched up on that dais said those developers on that project would do the right thing for the citizens of Astoira.

Did they?

Funny thing is, all projects like these always end up with City Council to make the final determination and they will keep rewriting the “Findings of Fact”, if necessary, to suit the final answer they want but, until we have a better way, that’s just the way it will be and will always put Tryan, as a member of APC in a tough decision making position every time.

I would have rather heard an announcement by these people, who proudly and loudly proclaim their multi-generrational heritage here, that a new Public/Private Housing Development was beginning up on “Blue Ridge Hill” that sits there, dead as hell, waiting, waiting, waiting along with Tongue Point Industrial Area dying in the vine.

Is this why you moved?

I moved because I was tired of not seeing any action” There is a way to save the waterfront for the public and no one wants to listen because they are chicken or afraid to ask for help. I see Astoria people bitch and whine and when someone offers to show them that developers will work with them they cry that they do not know how to ask. I was willing for a fee to help you save the waterfront and no one wants help unless its free, poo on that,

Luke,

Can you give us a general overview of your solution?

Luke, this is what you call Social Munchausen Syndrome, everything for free, Unless someone else wants to pay for it then it is fine and I also say poo on that. There is money to be made elsewhere. Have a good one

I am willing, for a small fee, to tell you what Luke’s pets said his plans were for the waterfront. They told me when Luke took them for strolls along the Riverwalk.

As a taxpayer I would love it if each and every small time real estate broker charged the city council a fee to consult with them on ways to build up the waterfront. Now wouldn’t that be a lucrative deal for the real estate broker. As a taxpayer I would require that the city council only use brokers for consultants that have absolutely no experience in this area of endeavor, have no proof that their plans would ever work, have no prior plans ever having been used, and have no working capitol of their own to invest.

I would suggest that if people really wanted to know where these ideas for the waterfront were coming from they look at city development plans dating about 1976ish in the basement of the Maritime Museum. They will look remarkably familiar.

Sorry but my pets have passed away awhile ago and are buried in the Texas Lone Star State.I agree with you in a way Pelican” And yet on the other hand the Astoria City Goverment has sat idle and done nothing to save the waterfront. Do they want the waterfront or the tax dollars it brings in? Ask your City Congressman what he thinks.

What A Hoot! The Shallon Man and The Strickland man have filed a notice with Luba” What is upsetting is that no one in Astoria has the balls to right an offer to purchase the Marine property and do what they want with it. With tradtional Astoria mentality they want everything for free untill you come into there shop and by god you had better pay there marked up prices or else! What do you need someone to come in a say hey smell the coffee people have a right to make some money” Maybe We should expect a bottle of wine or a free ride from all of Mr Strickland properties he owns? What do you think if the people of Astoria got off there ass and realized that all and everything is not for free that some people have a right to make some money and not give everything away. I am a condo developer and I wish that I can come to your town and knock the Marine building down and build a bigger complex than what the local tabloids have been running….
