Recently I read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. Overall I’d recommend the book. The facts and figures are almost too much to digest in one reading. The conclusion in the end is is my view over the top. But 90% of it is just pure facts, of which only one has been disputed, the amount of cow waste generated per year was questioned by a farmer.
After reading this I got to thinking which is worse…. eating a Whopper Value Meal for lunch, or smoking a pack of cigs in a day.
After a little research this is actually a fairly tough comparison to make. One adds about 67 grams of total fat to your diet and some 1300 calories. While the other actually burns about 200 calories.
Both are said to kill 400,000+ Americans a year and while eating one Whopper Meal is not going to kill you, neither is one pack of cigs.
Nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide are the obvious ones, here are some of the others:

There are also numerous other ingredients added to the beef, but the Federal Govmint does not require them to be public record.
So which do you think is worse?
