A gun show ... without guns ?

by Walter Richards

I’m surprised none of the local lawyers contacted would take the case. In it’s simplest form, it seems to me, it’s a basic case of false advertising and fraud. They sold him tables for a gun show, then told him no guns would be allowed to be shown.

Since he paid for the tables by credit card, he should at least be able to recover that cost even if the show refuses a refund. He should be able to challenge the charges as fraudulent since he didn’t receive the service/goods he thought he was buying based on their ad when he bought them.

Hopefully, he can also return the extra inventory he bought for the show and receive most of his money back from that. But Boomtown Casino should be liable for any “restocking fees” that he gets charged, as well as any “storage fees” he incurs for excess inventory he can’t return.

Here is the Press Release from Boomtown a few weeks ago…

Boomtown Casino and Hotel Reno will be the location for the Gun,

Knife and Hunting show presented by Gatling Guns, Friday, May 11 through Sunday, May 13, 2007.
The three-day gun show will offer more than 20,000 square-feet of outdoor gear exhibits from which guests can buy, sell, and trade guns, knives and hunting equipment. Transfer dealers will be available among vendors to legally transfer firearms back to the buyer’s home state.

Gatling Guns has been selling firearms and firearm accessories online through gatlingguns.com for more than four years. They are one of the few manufacturers of specialty targets for rifles and pistols. After attending the highly successful September gun show at Boomtown, Gatling Guns owner, Bert Guy is looking forward to promoting a show that will be bigger and better than the last.
“I have been attending gun shows as a vendor for five years, and I have assisted many companies in their promotion of shows,” says Guy, “I look forward to a tremendous event at Boomtown.”

The show will be held in Boomtown’s outdoor events area Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6 at show entrance, with three-day passes available for $12. Members of the Boomtown Bonus Club receive a $1 discount on tickets and law enforcement, military and public safety personnel enter free with valid identification. Mothers enter free on Sunday. Those under 21 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Vendors contact Bert Guy at (928)-854-3538 to reserve tables and rooms with special vendor rates.

Too funny…I bet this show will have a HUGE turnout!
