Short News Update
Just a short Local News Report along with some Election Goodies.
Local
- The Seaside Signal steps up it’s game big time with an excellent article about affordable housing. Also includes lots of information about the different agencies and what their functions are.
A must read for anyone interested in the subject locally.
- An interesting article from the Newport Times about erosion along the Oregon Coast. Some areas are sinking and some are rising and this effects the amount of erosion each area might have. Good for us….Astoria is rising at the moment….
- An Oregon Congress-Critter is proposing a 5 cent Gas Tax hike. If this passes and the Astoria-Warretnon Tax slips through, we might be taking some trips to Long Beach to fill-up…..
- A good round-up from the Clatsop County Website about the Commission Meeting yesterday.
Election
- Kathy Sanders, who is running for a Port Commission seat, has a campaign blog up and running: kathysanders.blogspot.com. She will also be at the Blue Scorcher this morning 3-15-07, from 9am to 10:30 for a “Meet and Greet”.
- The last day to file to be on the May Ballot is today at 5pm. There are still a host of positions that only have one person filing, or none at all.
- FYI I hope to have some major Election coverage as we get closer to Election Day. So I might have to cut back a bit on some of the news updates and other articles. So if anyone else wants to post some topics for discussion over the next couple months…please do!

Everyone should jump over to Josh’s blog and see the ongoing dialogue between Tryan and Josh in regards to the jail issue. The discussion is quite lively and you can draw your own opinion on it. It should be noted that Tryan was at the special meeting where the commission discussed the issue and did not rely on the County’s press release for his information, he got it first hand because he realized the importance of the issue and made time in his busy schedule to attend the meeting. Tryan cares about many issues in the county and unlike the majority of people, he goes to the meetings and observes the dialogue and draws his own conclusions. Tryan has a knack for cutting through all of the bs and gets to the point in his writings.
