Bush to Blair on camera & mic:
Bush is sitting down, looking over his shoulder at Blair saying—
“See the irony is they need to get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit”
Does he mean us? Should we call Syria to tell them what to do?
(and yet they want us to think of it as ww3)

I believe “they” would be either Israel or Lebanon.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Hezbollah used a base in Lebanon to launch the attacks, at a time when the Lebanese are insisting Syria pull out of Lebanon. Syria went in to Lebanon on the premise of “bringing order” to that country … after it backed some of the terrorist/warlord factions that tore Lebanon apart in the first place.
Perhaps Syria pressured Hezbollah to launch the attacks, to prolong Syria’s presence in Lebanon?

Syria is officially out of Lebanon but Lebanon’s gov’t has a few hezbollah representatives.
Look up history of hezbollah.
So you think the President of the united states, “the leader of the free world” is virtually powerless when it comes to calling a few leaders, without them hanging up on him?

Irony-what does he mean by irony? Why the heck won’t they let him call Syria? Cause this ww3 crap is good for nov ‘06 elections?
IMO the irony is that if he did display some leadership it would help the GOP. But who is he helping by not doing anything. The Carlyle group?
a whole bunch of war profiteering before the dems get in and clean up the mess and raise their taxes.
(if the dems get in you, Walter, will probably pay less in taxes and fees) The brunt of the burden of paying for their partying (rockets and rebuilding) is on your shoulders now. Not to mention our soldiers lives.

Last I read, early this year, Syria was “officially” out of Lebanon … meaning Lebanon had its own gov’t, now. But Syria still had a military and intelligence (secret police) presence that the Lebanese wanted gone, and Syria didn’t want to withdraw. And the Lebanese couldn’t forcibly remove them, for that would result in an armed conflict with Syria.
And if my scenario is correct … Syria using Hezbollah to maintain a presence in Lebanon … it wouldn’t matter who called the Syrians. Would they hang up? Probably not. Just humor him, and say they would try to control the “trouble-makers” – but everybody would know it would be a lie.
I also think it’s hypocritical of America to tell Israel to “back off” – given our response to 9/11/01. And I’ve said, prior to 9/11/01, that we’d respond to a terror attack on our soil in the same manner the Israelies do.
