The packet includes staff reports and other documentation provided to the Board for issues scheduled for discussion at the meeting.
“The commissioners strongly believe that public participation in local government is important. One way to encourage participation is to make available to the public the information that the Board receives in its agenda packet,” County Administrator Scott Derickson said.

This one might be an easy one to hit the Board with an email if you would like to make your opinion heard, or suggest questions that the Board should ask.
Presentation of CIS WebMaps
Not really sure what this is either, but I hope it’s a way that web users can access some of the County maps and property lines. It seems this would save the County some money in the longrun, because they wouldn’t have to show everyone how to use the computers. (And they are very confusing for the novice)
Here is what came up as “CIS” in another County:
What is a Community Information System (CIS)?
A CIS is a single Web site that combines information about a community from a variety of sources. A CIS merges sophisticated information technology with easy-to-use tools, so that everyone from grade school children to service providers to university and medical researchers can benefit.
A CIS can be used for community planning, economic development, research, grant writing, tracking program results, and strategic planning…..

106 Pages!!!!?
Of an olio of junk or is this a real agenda?
And it says “July 12, 2006 Meeting/Work Session?
As it is with ‘The Port’, CCBofC has a work session prior to the regular meeting to preview and predetermine the outcome of issues prior to and without the benefit of spontaneous constituency input and comment?
And then if you want to speak-up in ‘Public Business’ you have to apply to do so?
I say we damned well better start attending these CCBofC meetings in-force and immediately as it seems these people have just absolutely been left to their own devices.
I would also support making a call right now for the formation of a citizen backed, ‘Lower Columbia Government Watch’ to draw public attention to these bureaucracies and panels and force them to be accountable to those whom they serve, the citizens of Clatsop County.
