April 2005’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.0 percent. The number of unemployed this April was 150 fewer than one year before and 490 more people were employed.

Nonfarm Payroll Employment Estimates From a Survey of Businesses
Seasonally-adjusted nonfarm payroll employment increased by 80 jobs in April. A gain of 310 jobs is normal for the month but nonfarm employment in Clatsop County rose by an estimated 390 to 16,770. Leisure and hospitality added 270 and construction added 50. Food manufacturing shed 90 jobs.
April’s total nonfarm payroll employment gained 560 jobs compared with its level last April. Trade, transportation and utilities added the most jobs in the past year and the food manufacturing and accommodation industries also grew.
