I think much of the waste comes from measure 5 which sent tax money to the State for distribution. There are only a few counties that are having big problems, those are the ones that happen to get screwed by the “distribution system” (Portland, Clatsop, Tillamook) We should go back to funding our own schools so we at least have more control over who we elect to the school-board.
Locally the schools are getting very creative about getting money from the students (parents). If we are going to pay, I would like have one funding source right in front of us, instead of 100 different small taxes.
I might do a story a little later about some of the crafty ways the schools collect money from local parents through the students.

They never called and asked me about the “kicker”. I’d say keep it as it is, get rid of the waste that I’m sure schools still have, and waste that I know govt still has.
