Seems he was convicted of selling meth crimes back in the late 80’s and spent time behind bars. And in Oregon felons can run for office if they are not “under supervision”.
Maybe he has turned his life around and would be a worthy candidate, but as of 3 years ago he was still making money off meth, though not directly, by selling records to meth dealers.
I’m sure it took a lot of courage for him to step foward and offer to serve the citizens, as he knew his past would be revealed in a very public way. But the time has come to drop out. There can still be a good race if a write-in comes foward. I am still dumb-founded that no one else stepped foward to run, as there has been many contested isses that have happened in District 1.
Will anyone come forward?
If Mike can come into the spotlight with his past, surely someone else can step up and at least make Jeff run strong campaign, as he will be a better Commissioner because of it.

Looks like a write in for Dave Shannon will be our only hope.
